在英语教学中，我们经常强调的是对学生听、说、读、写能力的培养，其中听、说是英语学习的基础，而听更是重中之重。特别对于我国而言小学英语刚刚起步，儿童的语言往往是从听和模仿中学习，而目前的小学英语测试中的听力往往又是学生失分较严重的部分，因此提高小学生的英语听力水平就颇为必要了。那么如何才能提高小学生的英语听力水平呢？下面我就这个问题谈一些自己粗浅的看法。
我们都知道，多听是提高听力的前提，但是如何去听，如何准确地从听力材料中获取信息，这需要我们在要求学生多听，增强语感的基础上必要地教给学生一些答题的技巧。
首先，要求学生在做听力题时，一定要利用还没放录音之前的一点时间，迅速地捕捉每条题目选项所提供的信息，学会预测句子、短文或对话可能涉及到的内容，这样才能在听录音材料时做到有的放矢，有所侧重，抓住关键词，提高准确性。
其次，要求学生养成果断答题的习惯，切忌犹豫不决。对有把握的试题应快速作答，对无把握的试题也要在所听信息的基础上排除错误选项，做出回答。特别对于不会作答的，应该立即搁置，准备听下面的题目，千万不能因为局部放弃整体，影响下题的作答。
再次，教学生学会抓关键词。在小学英语五、六年级的听力测试中听短文做出判断或选择是个难点，所以我们要求学生在听的过程中注重捕捉听力材料中所涉及到的人物(who)，时间(when)，地点(where)，事件(what)。因为我们所教对象是小学生，所以可以让他们把英语中的听短文材料理解与语文中的短文阅读作比较，掌握好这四个要素。另外对于一些特殊疑问词【比如原因(why)，方式(how)，程度(how much/ how long)，数字(how many/ how much)，选择(which)】在听的过程中也要注意。
另外，告诉学生在听的过程中，一定要注重对听力材料的整体内容的理解，不能把注意力都放在个别单词或句子上，不要强迫自己听懂每一个词，只要重点抓住上述所说的关键词，学会一边听一边作适当的记录来帮助自己答题和检查。
要提高小学生的英语听力水平，除了学生要掌握一些技巧，又要求我们教师在教学中注意些什么呢？学生听力水如拍平的提高是一个逐步学习、不断深化、运用的过程，我们作为教师不能操之过急态扒，切忌急于求成，要有计划、有步骤的加以训练和引导。
第一，坚持用英语组织教学。坚持用英语组织教学，要从最简单的日常用语开始，逐步加深，同时配以动作、表情或适当的解释说明，尽量避免用汉语讲述。长此以往不仅可以使学生尽快融入到英语教学的氛围，培养学生用英语进行思维的习惯，而且可以训练学生的听力，增强学生的求知欲。通过课课训练，学生会对原本生疏的语言感到熟悉，对听力的提高会起到很大的作用。
第二，加强对语音、语调的训练。在教学中，要让学生习惯正常的语速，必要时提醒学生一些简单的发音规则，对学生的发音应及时进行纠正及指导。如果因为怕学生听不懂而故意放慢语速来迁就学生，甚至一个词一个词的往外蹦，这样对学生听力、语感的培养反而不利。因为语速太慢就破坏了语言的语音、语调，久之对于正常的语音、语调反而听不懂了。只有充分利用好配套的磁带，要求学生模仿纯正地道的英语，发好每个音，才能对提高学生的听力水平有所帮助。
第三，双向听力训练法。教师可以根据小学生模仿能力强的特点，采取双向听力训练的方法。这种方法是指采用两种看似矛盾的形式进行训练。一种形式是给学生提供一些已经学过的单词、短语或句子进行练习，另一种则可以不管听力材料中是否有生词，这种训练的目的是要求学生听清而不是听懂，只要学生能够比较准确地复述出所听到的内容就达到训练的目的了。
第四，正确对待生词。听力中必然会有一定的词汇量。小学阶段的英语听力中不可避免地会出现一定量的生僻词，我们也知道在听力中生词多了会影响听力的速度和效果，所以我们要教学生在听的过程中把注意力集中在对文章大意的理解上，尽量避免去追究局部的句子和短文的含义，而另一种方法就帆橡昌是通过听力材料的上下文来猜生词的意思。因此在听力训练中我们应该注重加强学生对词汇量的积累以及对生词词义猜测判断能力的培养，教师应尽一切努力给学生提供和增加听英语的机会，鼓励学生多听、勤听、会听、爱听、主动去听，以此培养和提高学生听的能力。
小学生英语听力水平的提高是一个循序渐进的过程，一定要在通过多听、勤练、多实践、不断增强语感的基础上，才能提高听力能力。如何激发和培养小学生对英语听力的兴趣和能力，每个教师采取的方法可能不尽相同，但我们都应根据小学生心理活动的特点从内因和外因上着手，运用科学的方法和手段促进小学生英语水平的提高
