While we all try to find happiness, sometimes we still end up feeling low. While most people can control this feeling, low moods can stay with some, leading to depression. About 322 million people suffered from depression in 2019, according to a report by the World Health Organization in February. This is more than 4 percent of the world's population.
Depression is described by the WHO as a mental disorder. It has several symptoms including sadness, loss of interest and feelings of low selfworth. In severe cases, depression may even lead to suicide.

In China, depression among young people is on the rise, Zhu Zhuohong, a psychology professor with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told Xinhua News Agency. Competition to outperform others, especially in education, can cause a lot of pressure for Chinese youth.
Almost 1.2 million Chinese people aged 15 to 24 suffer from depression, according to a report released by British science journalTheLancet in May.

I've been really into surfing (冲浪) for more than fifteen years. I started learning in England, then I began going on surfing holidays abroad with my friends — we went to Bali in Indonesia, and also South Africa. After that I started wanting bigger challenges (挑战), so five years ago I decided to try the really big waves in Hawaii. Of course they can be dangerous, but it's worth it for the excitement you get when you're riding them. It's a magical feeling, like flying above the ocean, and for those few seconds you totally forget everything else in your life.
—James
I started climbing about twenty years ago, and I've now climbed three of the highest five mountains in Europe. It can be dangerous, and I've had some scary moments, but the sense of achievement when you reach the top is amazing.
—Mike
Part of me had always wanted to try skydiving (跳伞), but I was really afraid the first time. The worst bit was just before I jumped out of the plane — I wanted to be back on the ground, not 4,000 metres up in the air. As a beginner you don't do it on your own — you're attached to the professional instructor who helps you land safely. That first time was five years ago, and since then I've done more than twenty jumps on my own.
—Susan
I became interested in snowboarding the very first time I tried it. I soon realised I had a natural talent for it, and it wasn't long before I was winning competitions and getting a bit of prize money. My dream is to be able to make my living just from boarding, so I now take three months off work every winter to perfect my skills.

Many people敏含伍have felt isolated and afraid during the pandemic this year, and the Weber family is no different. But 11-year-old Emerson Weber has a hobby that has turned into a remarkable antidote. Emerson writes letters—lots of letters. One day last spring, she even wrote to Doug, her mail carrier. “I want to thank you for taking my letters and delivering them,” she said. “You are very important to me.”
In no time at all, Emerson’s simple thank-you note was shared around the United States Postal Service (USPS). Many of the workers who read it wrote her back. Her fatherwas so moved by the response that he took to Twitter to share his appreciation for the outpouring of love.
“Emerson, my 11-year-old, is on a bit of a wild ride with the USPS and our local mail carrier, Doug.” The next dayafter Emersongave Doug the letter, a package arrived with two letters. Doug had shared Emerson’s letter with his supervisor, Sara, and they both wanted to share how touched they were.
The next week, they got a letter addressed to “Mr. and Mrs. Weber”老伏. It seemed that Sara had shared Emerson’s note as a “Token of Thanks” in the internal USPS newsletter, and there were postal folks that wanted to thank her.
